1. Overview

FlightAlert (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Data We Collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your email address and, if you use Google sign-in, your name and profile picture. This is used to create and manage your account.

Watch and search data

The routes, dates, price thresholds, and alert preferences you configure. This data is necessary to provide the core monitoring service.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never store your full card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment details on our servers. We retain Stripe customer IDs and transaction records for billing and accounting.

Telegram data

If you link a Telegram account, we store your Telegram user ID and username to deliver alerts and enable the AI assistant. Conversation messages are held in temporary memory (up to 20 turns, 24-hour expiry) and are not stored permanently.

Usage data

We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) and Service usage metrics (pages visited, features used) to maintain security and improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • To process credit purchases and maintain your billing history.
  • To send flight alerts, price drop notifications, and system-critical emails (e.g., low balance, password resets).
  • To respond to support requests.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following third-party services only as necessary to operate the Service:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (alerts, receipts, magic links).
  • Telegram — message delivery for users who link their Telegram account.
  • Flight data providers — to retrieve real-time flight pricing. We send your search parameters (airports, dates) but no personal information.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use essential cookies only — specifically a session cookie for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. Theme preference is stored in local storage.

6. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion to comply with legal obligations.
  • Flight search results and price history are retained for the life of the associated watch.
  • Telegram conversation memory expires automatically after 24 hours.
  • Payment records are retained as required by tax and accounting regulations.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed API keys, database-level access controls, and regular backups. While no system is completely secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

8. Your Rights

You can:

  • Access your data — view your account information, watches, and credit history from the dashboard.
  • Update your data — edit your profile, watches, and alert preferences at any time.
  • Delete your account — request account deletion by contacting us. We will remove your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Unlink Telegram — disconnect your Telegram account from the dashboard or by sending /unlink to the bot.
  • Export — request a copy of your data by contacting us.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Service. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
